The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced plans to launch a self-service application that will allow Nigerians in the diaspora enroll for their National Identification Number (NIN) without hassles.

According to a statement by Ayodele Babalola, technical adviser to the DG/CEO on media and communications, the initiative was revealed on Monday during a strategic meeting between Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chair of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), and Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC director-general.

Babalola added that the application will go live in February.

“As part of the process, a dedicated Diaspora Focal Point Desk will be established at the NIMC office to ensure swift resolution of issues within 24 hours,” the statement reads.
