Rabiu Kwankwaso
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) faction led by Agbo Major says Rabiu Kwankwaso, its 2023 presidential candidate, will not be contesting on the party’s platform in the 2027 elections.
According to NAN, Major who is NNPP factional national chairman, spoke on Saturday.
On Friday, Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the NNPP, said Kwankwaso was facing overtures from the opposition to decamp but noted that the former presidential candidate would remain in the party “strategically until the whistle is blown for politics”.
Galadima’s stance come as the party is split among factions supporting Kwankwaso and Abba Yusuf, Kano governor, distinctly.

In the statement, Major dismissed Galadima’s comments.
Major said Kwankwaso and Galadima had long been expelled from the party for “anti-party activities” and “so, they no longer speak for us nor can they use our platform for any political contest”.
“Our Memorandum of Understanding with the Kwankwasiya Movement, led by Kwankwaso ended shortly after the 2023 presidential election,” he added.

“We cannot even allow Kwankwaso for whatever reason to return on the NNPP fold because of the problems and internal wranglings he created for us.
“Kwankwaso led us into unnecessary litigation and even changed our party logo to the Kwankwasiya logo, all in an attempt to hijack the leadership of the party.”
Major also mocked Kwankwaso’s chances of success in the 2027 elections.
“He does not have the pedigree to match President Tinubu in any contest and so his ambition is dead on arrival,” he said.
