No division in ADC over coalition talks… we’re open to collaboration, says Ralph Nwosu

Ralph Nwosu, national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says there is no division among the leaders of the party over the ongoing coalition talks as the choice platform to present an opposition presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Nkem Ukandu, the deputy national secretary of ADC, dismissed recent media reports suggesting there is an internal discord over the party’s coalition strategy.

Ukandu, who is also the spokesperson to Nwosu, said the ADC is open to collaboration with all progressive-minded Nigerians, adding the party has amended its constitution to accommodate partners who are equally passionate about national development.

“The African Democratic Congress remains firmly united and guided by the same founding principles that have kept us strong and consistent over the years,” the statement reads.

“Handshake has always been in our DNA—not out of desperation, but because we believe in inclusive governance and coalition-building based on shared values. We are a party built on clear ideological direction and structured leadership.”

Ukandu further noted that the party did not make its coalition decision in haste, stating that “we consulted widely, deeply engaged stakeholders across zones, and only moved forward after reaching a well-considered consensus”.

He said no dissenting voices were recorded during the ADC national working committee (NWC) meetings, reinforcing the party’s internal unity.

Ukandu reiterated the party’s vision to transform Nigeria through bold ideas, collective effort, and purposeful leadership.

“That vision remains alive. Our party has always been about bold ideas, collective effort, and purposeful leadership,” he added.

He assured members and the public that the ADC remains a well-thought-out political movement with structures, values, and depth, undeterred by external attempts to disrupt its progress.
