NOA commends immigration officer for ‘rejecting N10m bribe’ from suspected ritualist

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended Orji Ogochukwu, an immigration officer, for reportedly rejecting a N10 million bribe from a suspected ritualist.

The agency said Ogochukwu turned down N10 million, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and a Tecno phone from Ezeani (aka Ichie Billion), a fleeing suspect who has been nabbed for “ritual killings” in Enugu.

The immigration officer reportedly pursued, identified, and arrested the suspect at a Seme Road checkpoint.

In a statement on Wednesday, the NOA said at a time when moral values are constantly tested, Ogochukwu’s courageous stance “is a shining example of the kind of leadership our nation needs”.

“The officer’s action mirrors the 7 for 7 National Values Charter, embodying key principles such as Integrity, Responsibility, Leadership, and a deep commitment to Security and Service,” the statement reads.

“He proved that upholding the law and protecting lives outweigh personal gain, no matter the price.

“This act of patriotism and moral strength gives hope for a better Nigeria and unwavering ethical standards. Thank you, Prince Orji Ogochukwu, for reminding us all that true national pride begins with doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”

Alex Otti, governor of Abia, also recently commended the officer’s action, saying it reflects the state’s values.
