Armed men, believed to be members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, have been captured on video physically assaulting a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and her colleagues at their lodge in Anambra.

The video, which went viral on Tuesday, shows the victim, identified as Jennifer Edema Elohor, being beaten and stripped by men carrying guns.

The incident reportedly took place on July 23, 2025.

A non-profit on Facebook, which first shared the footage, said the armed men, who are officially known as Operation Udo Ga-Achi, stormed the lodge and accused the corps members of being involved in internet fraud.

The foundation stated that despite the corps members showing their NYSC identification cards and uniforms, the vigilante members proceeded to beat them.

The assault on Elohor was particularly severe, as the footage shows her being beaten, stripped, and left covered in blood.

The foundation condemned the assault, noting that the victims were also subjected to “horrible, sexually degrading words and actions, including threats of sexual violation.”

“We demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of the individuals involved in this heinous act and comprehensive reparation and compensation for the gross violation of the victims’ rights, physical harm, and psychological trauma inflicted upon them,” it said.

“We urge the Anambra state government to take immediate and decisive action to address this gross human rights abuse.

“The federal Government to invoke its authority and ensure justice is served and civil societies, influencers, and all persons to stand in solidarity with the victims and demand justice.”

Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson of the Anambra police command, did not immediately respond to enquiries when contacted on the case.
