Northern APC group backs Mohammad Kailani for national chairman

A northern support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Mohammad Kailani for the position of national chairman of the ruling party.

The position became vacant following the recent resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna, Awwal Aliyu, chairman of the forum, described Kailani as a transformative leader capable of restoring unity and direction to the APC.

Aliyu said Kailani’s leadership would mark a turning point for the party, citing his years of loyalty and grassroots engagement.

“His appointment will reinvigorate the party, re-establish lost trust, and reinforce both vertical and horizontal cohesion,” Aliyu said.

He said the group commended Kailani’s long-standing commitment to the APC since its formation, adding that his leadership style is inclusive and focused on results.

“Mohammad’s vast experience and leadership skills are unmatched,” Aliyu added.

“He has earned nationwide respect through his ability to bring people together and empower grassroots activists.”

Aliyu urged President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership to consider Kailani for the position, noting that appointing him would reflect the party’s preference for merit, competence, and inclusivity.

“Mohammad understands the sacrifices of our volunteers and has never wavered in his support. He is a visionary with a proven record of success,” he said.

On June 30, the national working committee (NWC) of the APC fixed July 24 for a national executive committee (NEC) meeting to nominate a new national chairman for the party.
