‘Not from us’ — Peter Obi media office dismisses reports of ‘ADC appointment, PDP return’

The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has dismissed reports linking the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) to fresh political alignments.

Earlier on Tuesday, a report claimed that Obi had been offered the role of national organising secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Not long after, another claim surfaced on social media claiming that the former governor of Anambra had also denied plans to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, in a statement, Ibrahim Umar, spokesperson for POMR, said neither of the reports originated from Obi or his media office.

Umar said Obi has been consistent in his stance on the ongoing coalition and does not need anyone to “put words in his mouth”.

“POMR has been made aware of two different statements claiming to come from our principal, Peter Obi, one of which denies his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reaffirms his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” the statement reads.

“And another claiming that Obi has been offered the position of national organising secretary (NOS) in the ADC. Neither of the two purported statements originated from Obi or his media office.

“The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party has been a subject of speculation in the political space even as he has remained focused on his mission for the establishment of a new Nigeria of our dreams.

“Peter Obi has been unequivocal in his position in the ongoing coalition and does not need anyone to put words into his mouth.”

Umar added that Obi remains focused on his mission for a new Nigeria and will not tolerate false attributions driven by “devious agenda”.

He asked the public to disregard any statement not issued through Obi’s media office or official handle.
