NOUN, ODeLAN to host third e-learning conference in May 2025

The Open, Distance, and e-Learning Association of Nigeria (ODeLAN) and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) are set to host the third edition of their international conference.

Chiedu Mafiana, chairman of ODeLAN’s local organising committee, said the conference will be held between May 14 and 16, 2025.

The event, which will take place at the NOUN headquarters in Abuja, is themed “Adaptive Pedagogies for the Future of Education: Connecting Learners, Technologies and Communities”.

Mafiana said the conference will spotlight innovative educational approaches and models that aim to shape the future of learning across Africa.

He said the annual gathering has become a platform for advancing open, distance, and technology-enabled education.

The 2025 edition, he said, will explore adaptive technologies in pedagogy and promote practical strategies for connecting learners, communities, and emerging technologies.

The hybrid event will unite educators, academics, researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, government representatives, and public members from universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and pre-tertiary institutions.

Keynote speakers include Peter Scott, president of the Commonwealth of Learning, Canada; Mpine Makoe, executive dean of the College of Education at the University of South Africa; and Tayo Arulogun, vice-chancellor of Miva Open University, Abuja.

The programme will feature paper presentations, panel discussions, and workshops on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in open, distance and e-learning.

Participants will also have opportunities to network, collaborate and share knowledge.

A pre-conference workshop will be held as part of the event.

ODeLAN said it remains committed to fostering a community of learners and educators passionate about innovation in the education sector.

The first edition of the ODeLAN International Conference was held in 2023 at Babcock University in Ogun, while the second took place in 2024 at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in Kaduna
