The opening match of the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) ended in crisis after FC IfeanyiUbah left the pitch at the beginning of the second half of the game with Kano Pillars.

The home team took the lead towards the end of the first half, but the decision of the referee to cancel a free kick scored by IfeanyiUbah was not taken in good faith.

The goal was disallowed because the referee had blown for half time.

The manager of the club earned a red card in the second half, for complaining over the issue.

This made the players to protest by leaving the pitch.

It is left to be seen how the League Management Company(LMC) will handle the issue.

Shehu Dikko, chairman of LMC, was present at the Sani Abacha Stadium when the incident happened.
