NPFL: Plateau defeat MFM to extend lead at the summit

Plateau United beat MFM FC 1-0 to extend their lead atop the Nigeria Professional Football League table on match day 34.

Ibe Johnson’s third minute opener made the difference in the game between the two title contenders on Sunday.

Plateau are now on 62 points while MFM remain on 56 points after the loss.

Defending champions Rangers edged Sunshine Stars 1-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. Christian Madu’s 27th minute spot kick separated both sides.

Cyril Olisema, Gabriel Okechukwu and Eden Akakatang were all on the scoresheet for Akwa United as they trounced Niger Tornadoes 3-0.

Enyimba handed ABS a 3-0 defeat at the UJ Eusene Stadium, Calabar, while in Katsina, Chinedu Udechukwu and Destiny Ashadi’s goals sealed the victory for Katsina United against visiting Wikki Tourists.

Relegation-bound Remo Stars suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Rivers United.

Ndifreke Effiong scored from close range in the 13th minute while Alabe Osawe gifted the hosts an own goal to hand Abia Warriors a 2-0 victory over Shooting Stars.

Gombe United pipped Kano Pillars 1-0 while Nasarawa United beat Lobi Stars by the same margin.

The match between FC Ifeanyi Ubah and El Kanemi was postponed to Monday due to flight hitches.
