MFM FC have been largely inactive in the transfer market and one can’t help but wonder what effect it may have on their performance in the new season.

While fans are still be basking in the euphoria of their impressive run last season, coach Fidelis Ilechukwu is already preparing for the new campaign.

Last season saw the Olukoya Boys pick a Champions League spot against all odds, finishing second in the NPFL.

To replicate that form, Ilechukwu will bank on Femi Oladejo, a player that many tipped to leave, to play an important role in his plans.

At 16, Akanni Elijah is already a toast of the MFM faithful. It is expected that more players from the feeder team will also be introduced into the main team in the new season.

Defence has long been the Achilles heel of MFM and in pre-season, Ilechukwu has been working with his defenders to prevent a repeat of the costly late goals conceded last season.

Sikiru Olatunbosun, the goal poacher

Managing to hold on to Sikiru will be of immense benefit to MFM. The forward set ablaze the NPFL last season. With no Stephen Odey in the side, the goal-scoring responsibility falls on his shoulders.

Chukwuka Onuwa

To keep their best players, great clubs make them happy enough to stay. Onuwa was convinced to remain with the club despite interest from other top-flight teams. He will be expected to pull the strings from midfield.

Akanni Elijah

Elijah burst on to the scene last season but found himself filling in wherever Ilechukwu asked. The young lad will work towards securing a permanent place in the team in the new season.

The big question

Can the Olukoya Boys survive the test of competing for honours on three fronts; the NPFL, Aiteo Cup and the African champions league?
