NPFL: Rangers return to winning ways

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Rangers, returned to winning ways on Sunday after defeating Kano Pillars 3-1 in a rescheduled match.

Newly-signed Ifeanyi George gave a good account of himself in his debut game as he earned his side the handsome win.

Rangers displayed their intent as early as the first minute after George was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty for the home side.

Chibuzor Madu held his nerve to put his side ahead. It got worse for the visitors when Madu doubled the lead five minutes later.

As the first half drew to a close, George scored a poacher’s goal in the 45th minute.

Adamu Mohammed, however, reduced the deficit with the last kick of additional time to end the half 3-1.

With the game almost in the bag, Rangers spent the second half frustrating their opponents.

Despite the victory, Rangers remain bottom of the league table with 16 points from 15 matches.

The Enugu-based team will host Wikki Tourists on Wednesday in another rescheduled match.

The Flying Antelopes have been under serious fire of late, as a result of their elimination from continental tournaments and their indifferent form in the league.
