Abdullahi Yusuf, Kano Pillars winger, scored five goals as the Sai Masu Gida side defeated Gombe United 5-2 on Sunday.

Four of Yusuf’s goals came in the first half as Pillars earned a vital three-point away at the Gombe township stadium.

The winger scored his first goal in the 10th minute before doubling the tally four minutes later.

Then Sadiq Shuaibu pulled one back for Gombe United, and Yusuf responded in the 33rd minute with his third goal of the game.

Yusuf added his fourth goal at the stroke of halftime and concluded his onslaught in the 60th minute.

In Ikenne, Sikiru Alimi scored his ninth goal of the season as Remo Stars defeated Plateau United 1-0 to go top of the league.

At the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Sporting Lagos managed a one-nil victory over Katsina United to stay in touch with the leading half of the league.

Shooting Stars failed to beat Heartland FC following a goalless draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. The draw hampers 3SC’s chase of the leading pack.

On Saturday, Doma United defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 and are second on the log — just one point adrift of Remo.
