The League Management Company (LMC) has announced the postponement of the second half of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season till May 9.

The league was expected to resume its second stanza this weekend, after a 20-day break.

The LMC, however, took to its Twitter page on Wednesday to disclose that the break has been extended by another two weeks.

The outstanding match between Enyimba and Enugu Rangers FC was exempted from the postponement.

“The second round of the NPFL21 will start on May 9, 2021 with the exception of the Enyimba/Rangers outstanding fixture. Date for the game will be announced in due course,” the tweet read.

No reasons have been given for the postponement.

Fans have been anticipating the chance to behold Ahmed Musa, Super Eagles captain, in action at his second coming to Kano Pillars, but it appears they’ll have to wait a little longer.

Kwara United lead the log with 39 points while Kano Pillars are second, separated from the summit by goal difference.

Akwa United and Rangers complete the teams in the top four.
