Players and officials of Wikki Tourists have been involved in a road accident on their way to Uyo in Akwa Ibom state.
The accident occurred in Chibo, a town in Jos, Plateau state in the early hours of Thursday.
There was, however, no life lost in the inferno except for players and club officials who lost valuable items.
The Nigeria Professional Football Club (NPFL) side were on their way to honour their week 11 match against Dakkada.
Patrick Paschal, Bauchi FA chairman, confirmed the incident to TheCable.
“It is true that the Wikki Tourists bus was involved in an accident, caught fire and burnt,” Paschal told TheCable.
“One of the back tyres came off in motion and the rim and silencer ignited the fire on the road due to the contact.
“Despite the bus catching fire, no life was lost, no one was injured and the players, as well as officials, are all safe.
“It is just bags belonging to some of the players that were unable to be retrieved.
The Bauchi-based club occupy 10th position on the NPFL table with 13 points.
