NPFL wrap-up: Kwara United, Wikki Tourists secure big wins as MFM lose again

There were several interesting results on matchday 22 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Kwara United kept their survival hopes alive when they beat MFM FC 3-1 in Ilorin.

Goals from Segun Alebiosu, Stephen Alfred and Sunday Odudu secured three points for the Harmony Warriors. Sikiru Olatunbosun scored the consolation goal for the Olukoya Boys.

At the zenith of the table, Lobi Stars consolidated their lead with a 1-0 defeat of Enugu Rangers. Anthony Okpotu scored the sole goal.

Katsina United also secured three points to boost their continental chances after beating Sunshine Stars 1-0. Tasiu Lawal grabbed the winner for the Changi Boys.

Katsina sit fifth on the log whereas the Owena Whales find themselves in 19th place.

Nasiru Jibrin, Ocheme Edoh and Elijah Ani were on target as Wikki Tourists recorded a 3-1 home victory over Yobe Desert Stars. The Giant Elephants are 16th on the log while the Desert Stars sit 12th.

Osita Chikere was the hero of the day as his goal steered sixth-placed Rivers United to a 1-0 win over Plateau United at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah were defeated 2-1 by Niger Tornadoes in Nnewi. Mubarak Ejiogu and Usman Bashar were on the scoresheet for the Ikon Allah Boys while Godwin Obaje was on song for the Anambra Warriors.

Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars played a goalless draw at the Lafia City Stadium.

Meanwhile, the matchday 22 fixture between Abia Warriors and El-Kanemi Warriors will take place on Monday, while Akwa United and Go Round encounter has been postponed until Wednesday.
