NPFL wrap-up: MFM silenced at home as Enyimba remain league leaders

A number of shocking results were recorded in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) this weekend.

Here’s an overview of how events unfolded in week nine.

Dakkada 2-1 Abia Warriors

Aniekan Ekpe and Kokoete Udoh’s 48th and 54th minute goals helped Dakkada secure the maximum points at stake at the Nest of Champions in Uyo. Fatai Abdullahi netted a consolatory goal for Abia Warriors in the 90th minute.

Akwa United 3-0 Katsina

Ndifreke Effiong’s brace and Charles Atshineme’s 60th minute goal were enough for Kennedy Boboye’s side to clinch all three points.

Rangers 1-0 Warri Wolves

Christian Nnaji’s solitary goal in the 17th minute was the difference between both sides.

MFM 1-2 Heartland

Emmanuel Adachi scored from the spot for the visitors but Muyiwa Lawal levelled the scoreline for Olukoya boys in the 48th minute. Jimoh Gbadamosi broke MFM’s heart in the 53rd minute to put Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side ahead.

Sunshine stars 1-2 Kwara United

Sadeeq Yusuf netted the opener for the home side in the 50th minute of play, but four minutes later, Issa Gata equalised for Kwara. Steven Jude got the visitors ahead four minutes before time to hand the away side maximum points.

Lobi 0-0 Wikki Tourists

It was a goalless affair in Makurdi between the home side and Wikki Tourist.

Jigawa GS 1-0 Adamawa United

Abdullahi Musa Lala scored the only goal in the match in Kaduna.

Enyimba 2-1 Plateau Utd

Tosin Omoyele’s brace ensured that the People’s Elephant remain atop the NPFL table despite Moses Effiong’s 76th minute consolation strike.
