In a seven-goal thriller, Enugu Rangers fought from a goal down to annihilate Remo Stars 5-2 in the matchday 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) games across the nation on Sunday.


Defender Bright Akpojuvwewo silenced the Flying Antelopes with the curtain raiser.

A brilliant brace from Godwin Aguda was complimented by Ifeanyi George and Ibrahim Ajani to put the scoreline 4-1 in favour of Rangers.

Chidera Ezeh’s own goal gave the Sky Blue Stars a glimmer of hope before Michael Uchebo put the game beyond them.


Enyimba’s hot streak continued in a 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars which strengthened their grip on second place in Group A.

The People’s Elephants made it two wins and three draws in their last five games as they capitalised on some generous Sunshine Stars defending.

Ayo Ojo spilled home Dare Olatunji’s low drive from the edge for the opener. Ifeanyi Anaemena converted for the hosts from the spot to make it 2-0.


Israel Abia reduced the tally but it was too late for the Owena Whales.

A decisive strike from Adeseun Adelani at injury time settled the game in favour of Go Round against Yobe Desert Stars.

Samad Kadiri’s second-half brace helped Lobi Stars snatch a 2-2 draw against Niger Tornadoes as both teams shared the spoils.

Aliyu Mohammed’s penalty brace put the Ikon Allah Boys two goals up before Kadiri delivered a brace for the Pride of Benue.


Segun Alebiosu gave the home fans something to cheer as Kwara United picked a valuable 1-0 win over Katsina United.

Rivers United’s hopes of making it to the NPFL playoffs suffered a fresh setback when they lost 1-2 to Wikki Tourists at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.

The Pride of Rivers were outplayed by the Giant Elephants, which was secured by goals from Saidu Abdullahi and Hassan Musa.

Ossy Martins scored the consolation for the Stanley Eguma managed team.


Ten-man Abia Warriors lost 1-0 to Plateau United courtesy of Mohammed Zukilful’s early goal.

Old warhorse Isiaka Olawale was back to his irresistible best to shoot Elkanemi Warriors to a 0-1 win.

The Kwara born midfielder bagged the only goal of the game for the Desert Warriors pipped Gombe United 0-1 at the Pantami Stadium.

Match-winner Cyril Olisema produced an inspired performance as Akwa United completed the double over Heartland with a 1-0 victory. The midfielder scored from the penalty spot.
