The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says its personnel arrested five persons who allegedly specialise in robbing hotels and Point of Sale (POS) operators, in Calabar, the Cross River capital.

Charles Brown, NSCDC commandant in Cross River, said the suspects are between the ages of 15 and 25, adding that they were arrested following intelligence reports.

He said they were nabbed with charms and weapons in different parts of the state.

“They had recently robbed a hotel in Calabar south where their faces were captured by the CCTV mounted in the hotel,” NAN quoted Brown as saying.

“We also traced them to a phone they stole in the hotel.

“We have been on them for some time and just this morning, we apprehended one of them who took us to round up four others.

“As we speak, their leader is still at large, but we will get him.”

Brown added that the suspects would be handed over to the police for prosecution after the completion of investigation.

He said security agencies would continue to collaborate to make the state uncomfortable for criminals, and called on residents to support security agencies with relevant information that will help curb crime in the state.
