The Bauchi state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says its operatives have arrested four suspects for armed robbery.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday, Ilelaboye Oyejide, the corps commandant, said the suspects were arrested in Misau LGA of the state, noting that four others are at large.

Oyejide said efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

He noted that Misau LGA has become notorious for “armed robbery, shops and house burglary, and attacks on citizens with dangerous weapons”.

“When I came on board, I raised crack operatives across the 20 LGAs to check the menace and curb it,” he said.

“When we received a call the previous day from Misau on these nefarious activities, we quickly mobilised our operatives and got them arrested.”

Oyejide said the suspects confessed to the crime and would be charged in court after the conclusion of an investigation.

He said items recovered from the suspects included wrappers, television, handsets and dangerous weapons.

“The fleeing suspects among them had escaped with motorcycles, but we are trailing them for arrest,” he added.

The commandant urged residents to be vigilant and report suspected criminals to the nearest security formation for prompt action.
