The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Katsina state has deployed 2,807 personnel to key locations in preparation for the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari died on Sunday at a clinic in London, United Kingdom (UK). His burial is scheduled for Tuesday in Daura, his hometown in Katsina.
In a statement on Monday, Aminu Datti, the state NSCDC commandant, said the deployment was in line with a directive from Ahmed Abubakar-Audi, the NSCDC commandant general.
Datti said the move aimed to ensure safety and security before, during, and after the burial.

He noted that personnel have been strategically deployed to Daura, Umar Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, the palaces of the emirs of Katsina and Daura, and other sensitive locations.
Datti said operational strategies, including intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, community engagement, and collaboration with other security agencies, have also been implemented.
“Both covert and overt personnel across the state were charged for adequate protection of all facilities belonging to all governments,” the statement reads.

“Personnel deployed must be very professional and synergise with other security agencies to ensure adequate security,” he said.
Datti extended his condolences to the family of the late former president, the government, the people of Katsina, and Nigerians at large.
