The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is set to hold the swearing-in ceremony of Margaret Oguntala, first female president of the association, on Saturday.

In a statement on Friday, NSE said the event will hold at the African hall of the international conference centre in Abuja.

The ceremony will feature different programmes such as the official swearing-in, remarks from the new president and other notable figures within the engineering society.

Oguntala was elected the first female president of the association on December 21, 2023.

She is the first woman to become NSE president since the association was founded 65 years ago.

She has been a member of the society since 1996 and became a fellow in 2010.

She worked as the president of the association from 2010 to 2021, and chair of the Ikeja branch, national exco member, vice president, and deputy president of the community.

She has received over 53 awards working as a three-time vice president of the association including the NSE presidential honour.

Oguntala has also been honoured with the APWEN Innovative Leader Award (APBN), meritorious service awards, and accolades from various NSE branches and divisions.

Speaking on her vision for the association, she expressed her commitment to building a solid foundation for the engineering community using her experience and collaboration with team members.

“We look forward to this year as one that bears testament to our shared commitment to engineering excellence, free from biases or encumbrances,” she said.
