The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 36 courses presented by the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).
The development was revealed on Thursday in a statement by Kunle Akogun, UNILORIN’s director of corporate affairs.
Akogun said that 36 of the 37 courses submitted to the commission were approved, while the remaining one (Hausa Language) was given interim accreditation.
He said the university is committed to sustaining its reputation as “better-by-far appellation”.

“The result of the accreditation exercise carried out in October/November 2024 has just been released, as contained in a letter dated April 30, 2025,” the statement reads in part.
“The letter was addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu.”
Akogun said the faculties of Management Sciences, Finance, Basic Medical Science, Anatomy, Computer Science, and Communication and Information Sciences courses were fully accredited.

“From the Faculty of Education, all 17 academic programmes presented were granted accreditation, as well as from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering,” the statement added.
“From the Faculties of Environmental Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences, each of the programmes presented was given full accreditation.
“From the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Social Sciences, three academic programmes were accredited, while four were accredited from the Faculty of Social Sciences.”
Wahab Egbewole, the varsity vice-chancellor, said the university’s management, staff, and students are pleased with the approval.

He said the achievement is a sign of the university administration’s consistent and huge investment in human and material resources.
“We hope that we will continue to do our best to position the university for more recognition,” he was quoted in the statement.
