As is the case every other week, some Nigerian footballers shine in their respective clubs, and as such, deserve recognition.

Due to the fact that the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) is in the off-season, TheCable is basing its team of the week on Nigerian players plying their trade abroad.

Here are the players who made the cut.

Okeimute Odah (Jeddah)

Still one of the best goalkeepers in Nigeria, the former Sharks recruit was brilliant on his debut for Jeddah in the game against Jabalain.

Ola Aina (Torino)

He did well against Spal with his pace, good defending and was also keen to get forward in search of goals.

Chima Akas (Kalmar)

The defender did well and created scoring chances for his teammates against Elfsborg.

Ichull Lordson (AC Kajaani)

Kajaani needed to refresh their season and they got a win against FC KTP, thanks to the former Nasarawa United enforcer.

William Troost-Ekong (Udinese)

Though Udinese failed to win against Fiorentina, the enterprising defender stood out, keeping out most of the attacks from the Viola.

John Ogu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva)

If ever there was a footballer who epitomises what Hapoel Be’er Sheva fans want from their players, it is Ogu.

On Sunday, they watched the midfielder run and chase every ball. He refused to be intimidated and scored a brilliant goal.

Ogenyi Onazi (Trabzonspor)

Trabzonspor have made their best start to a season in many years. The ex-Lazio star has been instrumental so far and he scored in the 4-0 thumping of Galatasaray.

Arnaut Danjuma (Club Brugge)

Club Brugge’s vintage performance to earn three points against Zulte Waregem was largely made possible by Danjuma’s work ethic in the match. He also scored a beauty of a curler.

Sammy Ameobi (Bolton)

Ameobi kept his team alive with a timely goal at Preston North End. It was a good way to silence his critics.

Blessing Eleke (Luzern)

Eleke delivered a man of the match performance in the colours of Luzern, capping a tireless display in the comeback win against Grasshopper with a goal and an assist.

Anthony Nwakaeme (Trabzonspor)

Any player who scores two crucial goals and provides an assist deserves some recognition. He delivered when the Trabzonspor fans needed a Messiah against Almighty Galatasaray.
