Barely 48 hours after the impeachment of Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi as the deputy governor of Enugu state, Ralph Nwoye, a clergy and former deputy chairman of Nkanu East council has been ratified by the state house of assembly to succeed him.

In line with the constitution, Governor Sullivan Chime is expected to swear in the new deputy governor anytime soon.

Onyebuchi was elected alongside Chime in 2007 and they enjoyed a good relationship until their recent falling out.

The new deputy governor once served as the commissioner for environment under governor Chimaraoke Nnamani, the predecessor of Chime.

Onyebuchi, who maintained innocence of the allegations levelled against him, had vowed to seek legal redress.
