The children of the Oba of Benin, Omo N,oba N’edo Uku Akpolopolo, have declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to Ayo Adewuyi, media assistant to Patience Jonathan, the Oba’s children – Ekpen, Ada and Esama – declared their support for the ruling party at the Edo state women rally organised by the first lady.

“Prince Ekpen hinged their decision to dump the APC on the reality that their former party is a party of deceit, which has no interest of Nigerians at heart,” Adwuyi said.

“Describing his former boss, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as ‘Comrade Dictator’, Prince Ekpen Erediauwa said the Benin monarchy is solidly behind President Goodluck Jonathan and would work assiduously for his re-election.”

Adewuyi also said that Ekpen urged the people of Edo state to vote for the PDP, and added that Ada Erediauwa spoke in the same vein, declaring that the Benin people were for the PDP and would vote for President Jonathan.

“The first lady, at the rally,‎ reeled out the achievements of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, asking the people of Edo state to vote for his re-election in order to sustain the dividends of his transformation agenda,” Adewuyi explained.

“Dame Patience Jonathan had on arrival in Benin paid a courtesy visit to the queens‎ of Oba of Benin, Oloi Osarugue Erediauwa, Oloi Evbagharu Erediauwa and Oloi Iyore Erediauwa at the Oba’s palace.

“The Olois’ acknowledged her contributions to women empowerment in Nigeria and prayed for a successful outing during the elections. She was presented with a Benin bronze as a mark of appreciation for what she has been able to do for the Nigerian women.”
