Godwin Obaseki, Edo state governor, says he will meet with Babagana Monguno, national security adviser (NSA), over the upsurge of criminal activities in the state.
Obaseki said this on Wednesday while speaking with journalists at the government house in Benin.
The governor said his meeting with Monguno would seek ways to tackle criminal activities in the state.
According to him, the meeting with the NSA would also increase intelligence gathering and make surveillance in the state proactive.
While assuring Edo people that they would not see a re-occurrence of such violent acts in the state, the governor said the army has deployed its personnel to the areas and flash points where these crimes were committed.
“We have useful information about those who we suspect, were involved in the incidents of last few weeks,” he said.
“I want to assure Edo people that normalcy has been restored and they will not likely see the occurrence of such incident again.”
In September, three police officers attached to Andy Ehanire, chief executive officer of Ogba zoological garden, were killed.
The development led to protest by indigenes calling for the redeployment of Haliru Gwandu Abubakar, Edo commissioner of police.
