Peter Obi
Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, has announced the suspension of his scheduled engagements within and outside Nigeria this weekend based on medical advice.
Obi, who disclosed the development in a post on X on Saturday, said he spoke at a tourism event in Enugu on Friday and had fallen ill.
He said he visited a hospital where he was given medication and advised to rest for at least two days.
“In obedience to the doctor’s advice, I will not be able to meet up with all my scheduled engagements within and outside the country this weekend,” Obi wrote.

“I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this might cause and humbly plead for understanding.”
The former Anambra governor said he also visited Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South LGA of Anambra state on Friday.
He said the hospital is being acquired by the Aguata Diocese of the Anglican Church.

Obi noted that he made an “initial modest contribution” of N10 million to support the diocese’s plan to revitalise the facility and establish a school of nursing, midwifery, and health technology.
“Healthcare remains one of the most meaningful investments we can make. Faith-based organisations have shown, time and again, that with the right support, they can deliver excellence,” Obi said.
“Together, we can build a healthier Nigeria.”
Obi said he later proceeded to Owerri, Imo state, where he attended a dinner hosted by Nnaemeka Maduagwu in honour of his former boss, Nasir el-Rufai, ex-governor of Kaduna state.
