Sikiru Adesina, veteran Nollywood actor of the Yoruba genre, has passed away after making a return to the movie scene in 2015 with the movie Ayaba Oosa.

He died of an unconfirmed cause in the early hours of Tuesday at his Kaduna residence.

The actor was a popular face in Nollywood in the 90s and was known for his mastery of “bad boy” roles.

Although criticized of being too old and over-weight for such armed robber cum herbalist roles, the Osun-indigene kept fans glued to their screens with his mastery of them.

He was also a movie director, and one of his movies Iya Oko Bournvita earned Bukky Ajayi an award at Encomium Magazine’s Reel awards in 2004.

Adesina moved to Kaduna few years ago after he was continuously ignored by movie producers and marketers.

He has produced movies such as Ilu Gangan, Idunnu Mi, Ogbologbo, Iya Oju Ogun, Agbede Ogun, Ere Agbere, and Aje Olokun.

The baritone-voiced actor will be buried later in the day, according to Islamic rites.

Other actors who were termed Nollywood bad boys in the 90s are Mufutau Sanni Adio, better known as Ajigijaga or Broken Bottle; Gentle Jack; Hanks Anuku and J.T. Tom West, who died in a car crash in September 2006.
