OFFICIAL: NYSC postpones Batch A orientation

OFFICIAL: NYSC postpones Batch A orientation
March 19
16:57 2016

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed to April 27, the three-week Batch A Orientation course earlier scheduled to start on March 30.

Abosede Aderibigbe, NYSC’s director of press and public relations, made the confirmation while responding to an inquiry by TheCable.

Prospective corps members were confused on Friday when a message started circulating online that the orientation programme had been postponed.

A statement on the NYSC camp appeared to validate their fears, but there were against reports that the strange time table was the work of hackers who had supposedly gained access to the NYSC website.

The statement on NYSC doubted by corps members

Aderibigbe did not state any reason for the shift, but apologised to the prospective corps members over any inconvenience that the development could create.

“We wish to confirm the shift in date for the commencement of the 2016 Batch ‘A’ Orientation course,” she said.

“The new time-table for the course is as follows:

Stream I

Commencement: Wednesday, 27th April, 2016

Swearing-in ceremony: Friday, 29th April, 2016, Close of Camp: Friday, 13th May, 2016

Stream II

Commencement: Saturday, 21st May, 2016 Swearing-in ceremony: Monday, 23rd May, 2016

“We also use this opportunity to express our sincere regrets over any inconveniences this change of date might cause to Prospective Corps Members and other esteemed stakeholders.”

Why is this service mandatory ??? because of it one will spend almost a year before the service after graduation…this is not a good idea. With school certificate one cannot get job. I beg this Government to make it optional right from this batch. pls

@thenas service isn’t mandatory if u don’t want to do it get an Exemption Letter, its just that companies and industries just want to see it, to confirm u went for service so choose your destiny.

Motion I suppose you may have heard the saying, paraphrased to say you should take out the log of wood in your eye before removing the speck from another person’s eye… In as much as oluchi’s statement carries lots of grammatical blunders you don’t have to come up here to talk her down when yours isn’t properly constructed… You rightly should have typed, “… as if you hadn’t attended/gone to school…”. Speak right!

Simple NYSC program you can’t maintain. Scrap it I say, stop making graduates look useless with their certificate. After the hurdles through school you’re still keeping us at home for months without applying for jobs with our certificate and you can’t kick start the nysc program. What a shame. Few days to go you wake up and change the dates. Is it the faults of PCMs that you can’t manage the NYSC program. Better return it to April 1st or make it optional. We are tired of been pushed around. You people better watch it because if the youths and young graduates get vexed. The country go tire una o. I rest my case.

Hmmm. Nysc it is not the fault of PÇMs that you can’t manage the program you made mandatory for Nigerian graduates. Better return it to April 1st. There’s no excuse for your incapability and weakness to monitor the scheme. Lack of planning and poor implementation. No inspection at all. Make the program optional or scrap it. Graduates without a certificate from the scheme hardly get a good job. That is wickedness. Be careful because if the youths of a nation grow against that nation the end is near. Biafra dey one side. Instead of you to try every means to unite the love of the youth towards the country you’re busy trying their patience. I rest my case. April 1st.
