The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has invited Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, an ex-Niger Delta militant, over his recent inflammatory statements.

Asari-Dokubo alongside some ex-militants have threatened to unleash violence on the country if President Goodluck Jonathan, who hails from the region, is not re-elected into office.

But speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Marilyn Ogar, spokeswoman of the security agency, said that the DSS has invited Dokubo on several occasions.

“Asari-Dokubo has been brought into the office of the DSS, a couple of times. It is not in the position of the office to begin to tell you who has been brought in or who has not been brought in,” Ogar said.

“The operational procedures that we take after we have issued out warnings, we do not make them public. We still stand by our words that whoever in any way would want to interfere or interrupt the peace that prevails, he or she would definitely be dealt with.”

Some Nigerians, including elderstatesman, Theophilus Danjuma, have recently condemned the pronouncements of the ex-militants on the election, calling on security agencies to call them to order.
