The Ogun state government says it is partnering with two renewable energy service companies (RESCOs) to produce solar panels, targeting a power generation of 1,100 megawatts (MW).
In a statement on Wednesday, Kayode Akinmade, the special adviser to the state governor on media and strategy, said the firms are Tranos Contracting Limited and Vision Gas and Power Limited.
Akinmade said Tranos will establish a 600MW solar panel manufacturing plant and battery pack in the state, while Vision Gas and Power Limited will set up a 500MW plant with potential expansion to 1 gigawatt (GW).
The special adviser said the deal is expected to boost electricity supply and industrialisation.

He said the partnership arrangement was sealed on behalf of the federal government by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, during the 2025 Nigeria renewable energy innovation forum (NREIF) in Abuja.
The governor’s aide said the forum was convened by the federal ministry of power and co-organised with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE).
The Ogun state official said the forum aimed to bring together global leaders, investors, and policymakers to shape the future of renewable energy manufacturing in Nigeria.

“These partnerships will ultimately spotlight Ogun State as a leader in innovation, industrial readiness and inclusive growth, while affirming our state’s commitment to economic diversification and environmental sustainability,” he said.
“This is in tandem with our vision to attract investments that drive a robust economic base, create jobs, and ensure that our State remains a model of innovation and sustainability.”
Akinmade noted that expanding local capacity for clean energy production would reduce dependence on imports and lay a foundation for inclusive industrial growth.
Earlier, at the event, the vice-president said Nigeria has secured over $400 million in new investment commitments for renewable energy manufacturing value chains.
