Ogun teacher arraigned for ‘engaging in oral sex’ with student

The police on Tuesday arraigned Matthew Sodake, a teacher, at an Ota magistrates’ court in Ogun state, for allegedly having oral sex with a 14-year old student.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing alleged charge of assault.

Chudu Gbesi, the prosecutor, told the court that Sodake committed the offence on July 12 at Ambassador Star Comprehensive Secondary School, Answer, Ota.

Gbesi told the court that the accused lured the 14-year-old student (name withheld) into the one of the classrooms and had oral sex with him.

He said the offence contravened section 216 of the criminal code laws of Ogun,2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

S.O Banwo, the senior magistrate, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Banwo said the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.

He also ordered the sureties to swear to an affidavit of means and show evidence of tax payment to Ogun government.

The magistrate adjourned the case to August 12 for hearing.
