Charles Aniagwu, commissioner for information in Delta state, has recovered from COVID-19, more than two weeks after he was confirmed positive.

Aniagwu and Chiedu Ebie, the secretary to the state government (SSG), both tested positive on June 20.

Ten days later, Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta, and his wife tested positive for COVID-19, a few days after one of their daughters was confirmed to have the virus.

Olisa Ifeajika, chief press secretary to the governor, announced Aniagwu’s discharge from the state’s isolation centre in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Twenty-one other people were also discharged alongside the commissioner on Tuesday, after they all tested negative for the coronavirus.

He added that the SSG is still expecting the result of another COVID-19 test to determine if he is due for discharge from the isolation centre.

Ifeajika, who said he tested negative for the coronavirus, urged residents of the state to comply with the guidelines issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on containing the spread of the virus.
