Oladipupo defeats Oloyede to clinch national lightweight title at GOtv Boxing Night jam

Sadam Oladipupo has been crowned the national lightweight champion.

Oladipupo, popularly known as “Baby Boxer”, defeated Imole “System” Oloyede via unanimous decision to claim the national belt on Friday at GOtv Boxing Night Jam festival held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

The 20-year-old Oladipupo was explosive from the first round and flashy with his newly made cornrows and in-ring showbating. He opened the cuts around the lips of his opponents with vicious upper cuts before the third round.
By the final round, it was clear who the victor was after Oladipupo produced several moments of brilliance and sent his opponent to the canvas multiple times.

The victory was Oladipupo’s fifth win in five professional fights and the only one he won without a knockout.

In other bouts, Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke outpunched Durotimi “System” Imole to clinch the national super bantamweight title.

Adeleke earned the victory via majority decision and won the 14th fight of his professional career.

In the international lightweight challenge bout, Nigeria’s Idowu “ID Buster” Rasheed forced Ghana’s Nii Offei Dodoo to a fourth-round stoppage. The Ghanaian corner threw in the towel midway through the round to signal a concession.

Tobiloba “Smiling Assassin” Ijomoni defeated Segun “Odi” Gbobaniyi and was named the best boxer of the night.

He was awarded the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy and got the N1 million cash prize.

There was also a live musical performance from Shoday, the fast-rising Afrobeats sensation, and stand-up comedy from Triclowns.
