Sunday Oliseh, former Super Eagles captain and coach, has released his autobiography titled, ‘Audacity to Refuse.’

The former Juventus midfielder announced the book release via his verified Twitter account on Thursday.

“I am excited to say, finally! It Is out In stores now. You can now pick up your copy or online and enjoy the experience of Nigeria’s, Africa’s and my own greatest moments and failures. Share with us your experience afterward,” he wrote.

The memoir chronicles the “grass to grace” story of Oliseh — from being a child born into a poor family to an Olympic gold medalist and also acclaimed to be one of the best midfielders the continent ever produced.

“Audacity to Refuse” digs into the story behind the author’s often mythologised courage and ferrets out untold off-the-pitch tales of countless trials and tribulations.

“From the outside, the world only gets to see the professional footballer’s glamour moments and the seemingly easy lifestyle that comes with it. But the tough realities, extreme challenges, and sometimes near-death experiences that they have to live with day in, day out, will shock you,” the blurb reads.

Oliseh played for the country’s national side for 10 years, captaining the team for half the time.

He was part of the “golden generation” of Nigerian footballers that won the 1994 AFCON in Tunisia and gold medal in the football event at the 1996 Olympics.

He returned to coach the national team in 2015 and resigned eight months later amidst allegations of unpaid wages and overall neglect.
