Olusola Ayandele, a businessman better known as Stainless among his political associates, has joined the race for the highest office in Oyo state.
Ayandele declared his intention to seek the ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2019 election when Omololu Olunloyo, a former governor of Oyo, visited his campaign office in Ibadan, on Saturday.
He told the people there to support him, promising to boost the resources of the state.
“If Cocoa House, Obafemi Awolowo Stadium formerly known as Liberty Stadium and first television station in Africa were built with money generated from cocoa, then we can do it again,” he said.
After the declaration, Ayandele proceeded to the palace of Saliu Adetunji, olubadan of Ibadanland.
He sought the blessing and approval of the monarch, promising to build on the legacies of the current administration in the state.
In his response, the olubadan praised him for his courage and wished him success.
When he departed the palace, Ayandele paid homage to the Obafemi Awolowo family.
Tola Oyediran, eldest daughter of the first premier of south-west, received him.
Ayandele, who is from Ibarapa, said he is not desperate but determined to lead the state.
