Omotayo Sanyaolu, senior special assistant to the Lagos governor on tertiary education, youths and student affairs, is dead.
He was said to have died in the early hours of Friday around Ikeja area of Lagos state.
Sanyaolu, a former youth leader of the APC in Lagos, was reportedly involved in an accident that occurred within the vicinity of the army cantonment in Maryland, Ikeja.
According to NAN, Seye Oladejo, Lagos APC spokesperson, confirmed the death in a statement.
“Lagos state APC regrets to announce the untimely passage of the former state youth leader, Omotayo Sanyaolu, who was until his demise, the Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Tertiary Education, Youths and Student Affairs,” he said.
“Tayo was a committed party youth leader who proved himself as a great mobiliser and excelled in all his assignments.
“He will be sorely missed especially at a time like this by the entire party, family, friends and well wishers. May his soul rest in peace.”
Meanwhile, in a statement by Gboyega Akosile, his chief press secretary, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, described Sanyaolu as a “loyal, committed, hardworking and dedicated co-worker in the Greater Lagos agenda”.
“The death of a loved one is usually painful as it is irreparable, but we must thank God that Omotayo Sanyaolu made a positive impact during his short but eventful lifetime. He served our party, APC, passionately and meritoriously as a Youth Leader and contributed to its victory in many elections,” Sanwo-Olu said.
“Tayo as my Special Assistant on Tertiary Education, Youth and Student Affairs was very instrumental to the Greater Lagos agenda. He contributed positively to issues affecting the youths and students in the state.
“I sympathise with his widow, children, siblings, friends and the entire family as well as Lagos State and the APC family.
“I pray that God will grant the late Omotayo Sanyaolu eternal rest and grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We will miss Tayo.”
