Ondo anti-corruption commission probes ‘diversion of N800m’ OSOPADEC funds

The Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes, and Anti-Corruption Commission (SPFACC) has launched an investigation into the alleged diversion of N800 million worth of shares in the Ondo State Oil Producing Development Area Commission (OSOPADEC).

NAN reports that those indicted, whose identities are being withheld, are currently under investigation by the anti-corruption agency.

Adewole Adeyeye, the secretary of SPFACC, confirmed the ongoing investigation into the alleged scam.

Adeyeye said the commission is looking into a separate case where an employer allegedly failed to pay over 200 workers their salaries for seven months.

He said the affected workers, all cleaners deployed to the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED), were supposed to receive N12,000 monthly but have not been paid for seven months.

Adeyeye did not provide further details on both cases, citing the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

He assured that the commission would ensure justice is served.

Victoria Iyanuoluwapo, one of the affected workers, told newsmen that she was employed in 2020 but left her job in 2022 due to irregular salary payments.

Iyanuoluwapo said she is owed seven months’ salary, while Olamide Alade, another worker, left her job in 2025 and is owed six months’ salary.

Alade said their employer claimed inability to pay, prompting the workers to seek justice through the anti-corruption agency rather than resorting to unlawful means.
