Jimi Odimayo, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo, has called for the cancellation of the party’s primary election held on Saturday.

In a statement by Victor Adedeji, Odimayo’s director of media and publicity, the guber hopeful expressed concerns about the irregularities that characterised the conduct of the poll.

He said the mode of conduct of the election contravened the core tenets of the party, adding that there were no polls in 233 wards in the state.

The aspirant alleged that voters were prevented by suspected thugs believed to be working for Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of the state.

He expressed dismay over reported assaults on his supporters who sought to exercise their franchise.

Odimayo pointed out “discrepancies” between official communications from the state working committee and purported directives from the governor to the national working committee (NWC).

He urged President Bola Tinubu and APC leadership to wade into the situation in Ondo state while calling for a fresh election with transparency, fairness, and justice.

He emphasised the party’s integrity and urged stakeholders to prioritise the APC and Ondo state’s collective interests by ensuring fair chances for all aspirants and upholding democratic ideals.
