Seun Osamaye, commissioner for women affairs and social development in Ondo, has commended Oluremi Tinubu, first lady; Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of the state; and Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the senior special assistant to the president on sustainable development goals (SDGs), for their roles in advancing women’s empowerment in the state.
Osamaye gave the commendation in Akure, the state capital, during the distribution of economic empowerment tools to 500 women across the 18 local government areas of Ondo.
The intervention is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) — a programme championed by the first lady in collaboration with the Office of the SSA on SDGs — and includes the donation of deep freezers, grinding machines, and gas cookers.
Speaking at the event, Osamaye praised the first lady’s vision and continued support for women’s economic inclusion.

“This bold effort will enhance economic independence among our women, reduce poverty, and reposition them as valuable contributors to their families and communities,” she said.
The commissioner gave assurances that the items distributed would be monitored to ensure proper usage and sustainability.
Representing the first lady at the event, Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa reiterated the connection between women’s empowerment and the achievement of the SDGs. She encouraged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity.
