A panel of investigation says there is no evidence Greatness Olorunfemi, a victim of  “one-chance” robbery in the federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja, died at Maitama general hospital.

On September 26, Olorunfemi was said to have been pushed off a moving vehicle, believed to be a “one chance” car, along the Maitama-Kubwa expressway.

She was severely injured and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

However, she was allegedly rejected by the officers on duty at the healthcare facility, who insisted on a police report.

She was reported to have died moments later.

Nyesom Wike, minister of the FCT, set up an independent panel to investigate the incident.

Presenting the report on Wednesday, Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, chairman of the probe panel, said there was no sufficient evidence to show that the victim died in Maitama hospital.

Mohammed also said the report which relied on CCTV footage obtained from the emergency ward of the hospital and witnesses, did not indicate that there was any discussion between the medical personnel and the “good samaritan”.

The chairman of the panel footage indicates  there was no demand for a police report.

He said the report also shows that the victim was attended to within five seconds of being taken to the hospital.

The chairman also addressed claims that the victim was allowed to bleed to death.

He said the investigation revealed that there was a little stain on the victim’s cream-colour dress, as well as in the vehicle that conveyed her to the hospital.

He said if it was a case of bleeding to death, her dress would have been drenched with the blood and the vehicle, which took her to the hospital.

Also speaking, Adedolapo Fasawe, secretary, health services and environment secretariat, under the federal capital territory administration (FCTA), said it was regrettable that Olorunfemi’s death was due to insecurity.

She added that Wike is determined to beef up security in the territory, particularly concerning the issue of “one-chance” with the planned introduction of mass transit buses in the nation’s capital.

The secretary also apologised to the family of the victim, noting that the body of their late daughter was not treated properly.
