The accident scene in Lagos						
									One person died when a Nissan saloon car somersaulted and crashed into a streetlight pole in the Oniru area of Lagos.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) detailed that the accident occurred late Sunday night at Yesufu Abiodun street, Oniru, Sandfill Bus Stop, Maroko.
In a statement signed by Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s permanent secretary, LASEMA said it received distress alerts through its 767/112 toll-free emergency lines at about 11:33pm and immediately activated the state’s emergency response plan from its Lekki base.
“Upon arrival at the scene by 11:46 p.m., a Nissan saloon car with registration number LND 738 FQ was found to have been involved in a lone accident at the aforementioned location,” the statement reads.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle suffered a mechanical fault (a brake failure) while at top speed, causing it to somersault several times and crash into a streetlight.”
The driver, an unidentified adult male, was confirmed dead at the scene.
According to LASEMA, the remains of the victim were bagged and handed over to officials of the Maroko police station for further investigation.
