One killed as gunmen abduct five college workers in Osun

Gunmen killed a member of staff of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTEH) in Esa-Oke town on Tuesday.

After killing the official, the assailants were said to have also abducted five other staff members and two students of the institution.

Sources at the school said the gunmen blocked the Esa-Oke road leading to the campus after the close of work, and stopped several vehicles before abducting some of the occupants.

Olaniyi Temitope, the slain staff, was reportedly trying to escape when he was shot and he died instantly.

The names of the abducted staff were listed as Olaleye Olalekan Bus.Admin department; Adeyeoluwa Bankole, HOD civil engineering; Jesuola Ajibola, director ventures; Adenreti Chukwu, secretary to civil engineering department and Rachael Akinboboye, OSCOTECH Microfinance Bank.

According to Channels Television, one of the kidnapped member of staff and the two students were released by their abductors on Wednesday.

The victims were quoted as saying the attackers were herdsmen who demanded for an unspecified ransom.
