Gunmen have reportedly attacked the residence of Damishi Sango, ex-minister of sports, in Dalwal village, Riyom LGA of Plateau.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad area, said the assailants killed a female relative and injured a police escort.

Makama said the attack occurred at about 10:46pm on Tuesday when gunmen invaded Sango’s compound and opened fire.

The publication noted that Walba Go Tom, a police inspector attached to the former minister from the special protection unit (SPU) base 4, Makurdi, sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, and his service rifle was reportedly taken away by the assailants.
