One person was reportedly killed while four others were abducted by suspected bandits during an attack on Anguwan Musa of Mararaban Rido, Chikun LGA of Kaduna.

A resident who spoke with TheCable said the bandits invaded the community at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Two persons were earlier killed during an attack on Dogon Noma-Unguwan Gamu community in the Kajuru LGA of the state.

The resident said the bandits operated for more than 30 minutes, adding that the gunmen kidnapped a woman and her three children.

“For some time, now the activities of kidnappers had reduced, until recently when the situation seemed to be getting out of hand, especially, with frequent cases of attacks and abduction in communities around Kaduna metropolis,” the source added.

“The attack on our community took place on Saturday at about 8:30 p.m. They killed one person and abducted a woman and her three children, all of them members of the same families. The man killed is the younger brother of the husband of the abducted woman.

“The bandits were many, and they were shooting sporadically. The local vigilante group could not stand them because of their  sophisticated weapons.”

The source added that the bandits had already fled the location with the abducted persons when security operatives arrived at the location.

When contacted, Muhammed Jalige, police spokesperson in the state, said he was not aware of the attack but promised to get back on the incident.

“I am not aware, I will make inquiries to the ministry of internal security and home affairs,” Jalige said.
