One killed, many injured as ‘political thugs’ go on rampage in Kano
There was commotion in the Hotoro area of Maiduguri Road in Kano state on Wednesday, following a clash between suspected political thugs of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A witness told TheCable that the thugs, who brandished dangerous weapons, attacked any one in sight.
He said some innocent individuals sustained injuries in the violent confrontation, which led to the loss of some lives.
Magaji Majia, spokesman of the Kano state police command, confirmed the incident, but said only one person died.
He said windscreen of many vehicles were smashed, and other property got destroyed.
Majia said the quick intervention of the police prevented the situation from degenerating into a big crisis.
He warned perpetrators of violence to stay away from the state, saying the police will not tolerate disorderliness.
Majia said some suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident, and investigation had begun.
