A moment of silence for Capt. Yusuf Sambo who died this morning

President Goodluck Jonathan has paid a condolence visit to Vice-President Namadi Sambo over the death of his brother, Capt Yusuf Sambo, describing the tragedy as “one of the saddest days of my life”.
The younger Sambo, an experienced pilot, died in a car accident on Bill Clinton Drive, Abuja, early Sunday when his car collided with a tree and burst into flames. He was 58.
The VP had just returned to the country from the Tanzania, where he represented President Jonathan at the golden jubilee celebration of the Union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar on April 26, 1964.
Sambo went straight to the National Mosque for funeral prayers as soon as he returned to the country.
Yusuf was buried at Apo cemetery in Abuja.
Jonathan, at the Akinola Aguda official residence of the Vice-President, described human beings as mere mortals, saying death is a journey everybody must make.
Sambo said the deceased who was his immediate younger brother was one of the most experienced pilots in the country.
The late Yusuf was a qualified pilot who worked with the former Nigerian Airways and the Presidential Air Fleet before retiring to private business.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters, according to a statement issued by the media aide to the VP, Mallam Sani Umar.
