Blessing Onyebuchi and Mercy Genesis, reigning African champions, have departed Nigeria for Doha, Qatar, venue of the inaugural World Beach Games.

Onyebuchi and Genesis are expected to contest in the +70kg and -50kg categories respectively.

The pair, alongside coach Victor Kodei, left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 12pm on Friday via a Qatar Airways flight.

At the tournament, the two athletes will take part in beach wrestling, which is similar to the traditional Kokuwa wrestling.
