Bimbo Ashiru, chairman of Oodua Group, has paid his respects to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland.
Buhari, Nigeria’s former military head of state and two-term civilian president, died on July 13, while Adetona passed away the same day at 91.
In a statement, Ashiru described the late Buhari as a disciplined and resilient leader who remained committed to national unity throughout his years in public service.
“President Buhari was a statesman whose life was marked by an unwavering commitment to the service of our great nation,” he said.

“From his days in the military to his tenure as a democratically elected president, he exemplified discipline, patriotism, and resilience.
“His leadership, though often tested by the complexities of our national challenges, remained anchored in his belief in a united and progressive Nigeria.”
He added that Buhari’s legacy would inspire future generations “in the pursuit of integrity, selflessness, and national development”.

On Adetona, Ashiru described the late monarch as a father figure and mentor who championed justice, truth, and the development of Ijebuland and the traditional institution across Nigeria.
“Personally, I have lost a father figure, a mentor, and an inspiration,” he said.
“His words of encouragement, his firm belief in justice and fairness, and his commitment to the development of Ijebuland will forever remain with me.”
He said Adetona’s fearless voice and unwavering integrity left an indelible mark in the sands of time.

Ashiru also extended condolences to the royal family, the Ijebu traditional council, and all sons and daughters of Ijebuland.
